ASHFORD ICE DIVE PHOTOS This dive drill took place on an clear New England Sunday morning at the June Norcross Cub Scout camp in Ashford, CT. Special thanks to the Camp for allowing us to use their campsite for our training. The site was great other than the deep snow and rather steep hill. Drill turnout was great, we had several experienced divers as well as first time under the ice divers. There was approximately 12 to 14 inches of Ice and the water temperature was between 30 to 32 degrees F. The support staff turn out was phenomenal. We had plenty of help to assist with difficulties of ice diving. We had a mix of divers that dove wet and dry. The Safety Officer and Information Officer were careful to make sure nobody stayed in the water too long and Operations always had a safety diver ready to go. The drill went of great with very few regulator free flows. |
